1. How do they work?
When your Vonuva Vegan Wraps first arrive, we recommend activating them to ensure they become pliable and adhere properly. To activate, scrunch the wrap up into a ball (not too tight) and hold for a few seconds. Then open the wrap back up, flatten it a bit and repeat a few more times until you are happy with its stickiness and pliability. Also, keep in mind that they will continue to break in & become more pliable over time with use. *If you happen to find your wrap getting too sticky during activation, feel free to give it a rinse in cool water and air dry before initial use.
Once activation is complete, simply wrap the top of a bowl, vegetable, fruit or your favorite snack by using the warmth of your hands to shape and seal the the edges of the wrap. The natural heat from your hands will warm the plant-based waxes just enough to make the wraps moldable. Once cooled, the wrap will form a natural seal and hold its shape.
2. How do I care for my wraps?
If unsoiled after use, wipe the wrap off with a clean dishcloth before folding and storing away. You can also hand wash them in cool water. The cold stiffens the wax, allowing the wrap to be cleaned easier without damaging the natural ingredients. If needed, use a mild, alcohol free dish soap with a gentle sponge.
Stains and creases are normal. You can expect your wraps to develop their own character after wrapping any food items with dark pigments, such as beets. You can minimize potential stains by rinsing immediately after uncovering your food.
Make sure to avoid any exposure to warm / hot water and other heat sources, as they will melt the natural waxes. Hang to air dry before folding and storing away. Avoid use in ovens, microwaves or contact with greasy foods, oils or any raw meats (go figure).
3. What are the wraps made from?
We only use natural, cruelty-free, plant-based materials for our wraps. They are made from GOTS-certified organic cotton with a mixture of plant-based waxes & oils.
Each one of our wraps are handcrafted and individually packaged right here in the USA. This means that each wrap is unique and may have slight variations to them.
4. How long do these vegan wraps last?
Ultimately the level of care, frequency of use and types of items wrapped will dictate the lifespan. Our wraps can last up to 12 months, if properly taken care of and used primarily for covering bowls & wrapping dry goods. However, if you are a heavy daily user (kudos to you) and utilize them to cover an array of items, including citrus fruits high in acidity, then you may only get 4-6 months use before retiring them to your compost or fire kindling pile.
5. Can I use them to store food in the freezer?
Yes, Vonuva Vegan Wraps can be used to keep your wrapped food fresh for roughly 2-3 weeks. They are great for storing dough, pastries and bread. Make sure to let the wrap completely thaw before peeling off to avoid damage.
6. What is the packaging made out of?
Our packaging is made from 100% recycled, post consumer paper materials, which means they are recyclable and biodegradable. We also go the extra mile to ensure that the glue used for the packaging seams is vegan too!
“I was so excited to find a reusable food wrap that doesn't contain icky beeswax. These wraps work great and are easy to clean. The largest one is big enough to cover a huge mixing bowl full of watermelon. They work great for wrapping sandwiches. To use them you just warm them in your hands to soften the wax. Then once your item is wrapped the wax cools and hardens to form a tight seal. Easy to wash with mild soap and hang to dry.”

“These wraps are great. So far, I have found that they keep any smell of the wrapped food out of the air / refrigerator and do not retain food smells. After a quick rinse, they can be used as if new. The description on the website (of which size to use for different items) is helpful. I would recommend any frequent user of foil or plastic wrap to try these wraps instead in order to reduce waste."

“I LOVE these! So easy to wrap a half apple or put over bowls of leftovers. Easy to wipe clean and fold up after it has dried completely. Before I use it again, I squish it in my hands to warm it up and then easily wrap my food. I love knowing that this is better for the environment as well as my own health”
